Manhole covers in Brooklyn
Some of the manhole covers I came across during a walk near Atlantic Avenue. The "Catskill" covers were the ones that struck me as I cannot remember ever seeing them before.
The city manhole covers used to be made in Harrison, NJ.

Time Wasters
In the never ending quest to find things that waste my time the electronic 21st Century has aced it. Angry Birds for the iPhone (iPad) is at the top if my list.
Next is Netflix on the iPhone and iPad.

Under the FDR at dusk.
I walk down to the to East River a few nights each week. I go there mainly after dark and take some pictures of the two bridges (Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges) in their night gettup; lights along the main cables. Every once in a while I go down there when it is still light.
I almost always have a camera with me. Taking the nighttime photos are tough and I haven't gotten the "perfect" shot yet, but I keep trying. The advantage to gong down there in the light (besides the obvious one) is I can take shots of the bridges and the clouds over New York.
Brooklyn Bridge just before 8:00 PM.

Noodle factory
There is a noodle factory on Forsythe Street just off Canal street. When you look in, there are stations with men pulling, and making noodles at machines. The air is always filled with a fine flour dust. Some of the workers wear masks while others do not. I can't imagine the masks much bit they are probably better them none. I bet the lungs of the workers is filled with this dust and j wonder what happens when there is high humidity in the air. Does the dust get moist and become a semi dough and then harden like bread dough left out on the counter?

Along the East River
At night a walk along the East River, under the FDR is a great place to come. It is cooler then East Broadway and the lights from the two bridges, reflected on the water is really nice.

SEPTA TO 3OTH STREET STATION
Took the train to Philadelphia on Friday 12/26. Went to see the city, yes but mostly went to get a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich at Rick's in the Reading Terminal Market. Shit was I surprised and disappointed when I found out Rick's had been "forced" to close. Had to settle for a fresh turkey sandwich; it was good but it wasn't a cheesesteak sandwich. I have found that the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich doesn't travel well and it is best in the city of brotherly love.
Long winded intro to the video; Before and into North Philadelphia and then before and into 30th Street Station.

Took the free ferry to Ikea on Sunday. Walked around the new Erie Basin Park, old Todd Shipyards in Red Hook. I walked across the street and took this panorama of this "industrial" basin.

Coney Island again this afternoon. New Nikon Coolpix P5100 camera, dropped one Samsung and kicked the other, so out of convenient video cameras. I am sure this will fill up my harddrives nicely.
Took six(6) videos of different Cyclone runs. I just wanted the first drop. Spliced them together in QuickTime Pro.

Coney Island three times last week, twice at night and once on Sunday. Some of the many, many images I took; most of them were on Sunday from the fishing pier.
I was standing on the pier talking to a young fisherman and as I was taking pictures about five or six people came up to me to ask me to take their pictures with the rides in the background. I gladly complied and then took their pictures with the rides and then had to explain to them about the Parachute Jump as I moved them to where I could take their picture with it as the bacground.

Pre Xmas gathering at my sister-in-law's
Instead of taking the LIRR from Penn I decided to take it from Jamaica. I took the "J" Train (Jamaica Avenue el) from Essex and was fortunate to have a semi-clean front window.
I hadn't been on the Jamaica Avenue el in the daytime since high school. When I was going to school in Brooklyn, Bishop Loughlin, I sometimes took the Myrtle Avenue el to Myrtle Avenue changed to the Jamaica Avenue el to 168th Street and then the buses home. This was instead of the more direct route: "GG" Clinton Washington to Queens Plaza and then the "E" to 169th Street and then a walk to the 165th Street bus terminal.
Because of the length of the trip and the limitations of Youtube and anyone who views the video, I broke it into six segments:
- Essex to Marcy over the bridge
- Marcy to Myrtle
- Myrtle to Broadway Junction
- Broadway Junction to Cypress Hills
- Cypress Hills to Woodhaven
- Woodhaven to Parsons Archer
